In a game between two evenly matched sides, Newark were very unfortunate to return empty handed. On an uneven pitch, Town struck first after 15 minutes, Ben Ginnelly scoring from 25 yards. The visitors equalised shortly afterwards and controversially took the lead, the scorer handling before putting the ball into the net. Town retaliated through Joe Hurst, who converted a James Morris cross from the edge of the area.
